Workspaces

A workspace in Autify Nexus is the context in which test resources are stored. Depending on your plan, you can access multiple workspaces in Autify Nexus — a local workspace representing the computer running Autify Nexus, or a remote workspace that multiple people can connect to and use together.

The types of workspaces and number of available remote workspaces depends on your contract.

If you would like to add more remote workspaces, please contact Customer Support.

Local workspace

On your locals workspace, all resources for tests are stored and accessed directly on the computer running Autify Nexus, including browsers used for test execution. If you are running Autify Nexus on your computer, this means that any tests that are run or changes made to scenarios will only happen on your computer.

Remote workspace

On your organization’s remote workspace, all resources for tests are stored in a server and shared with other members of your team or organization. You can still execute tests locally on the machine running Autify Nexus, but you can also execute tests in a cloud environment hosted by Autify. If you make changes to anything in the remote workspace, all users in your organization will be impacted. If you run tests in the cloud environment, all users in your organization will be able to access the test results.

Switching between workspaces

If your plan includes remote workspaces, you can switch between your local and remote workspaces using the workspace switcher located at the top-left of the window.

In addition to the icon and label of the workspace switcher, Autify Nexus will also display a banner at the top of the application window to let you know when you are performing operations in a remote workspace.

Copying scenarios between workspaces

You can copy your scenarios between local and remote workspaces.

Please refer to “How to copy a scenario between workspaces“ article.

Setting workspace access permissions

You can set the workspaces a user can access in the "Workspaces" section of the user profile editing screen.

Note: administrators have access to all workspaces of their organization.

Data storage locations

Local workspace

When you use a local workspace, all data is stored directly on your local machine.

The data includes scenarios, test results, and files downloaded during test execution.

Remote workspace

When you use a remote workspace, data is stored securely on Autify's cloud servers.

Test Results

Stored on Autify's cloud server.

Note: if you execute a test locally while connected to a remote workspace, the test results are saved to Autify's cloud servers, not your local machine.

Files downloaded during test execution

Stored on Autify's cloud server.

Note: if you execute a test locally while connected to a remote workspace, files are temporarily downloaded to your machine. After the test completes, these files are uploaded to Autify’s cloud servers, and local copies are deleted.
