This article provides basic guidelines for both ways to create new scenarios in Autify Nexus. For more detailed information about editing or configuring scenarios once they have been created, see [Editing a scenario](/v1/docs/editing-a-scenario). ## Recording a scenario To get started, click **Create new** at the top right of the **Scenario** window. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/c040854c-2c75-49d0-98e1-43f462e8657e/Images/Documentation/create_new_scenario(1).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A17%3A37Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A17%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=15o7akvr9re%2B7i1yVsmSzQUt0O1EqHb7Mkx5F4p0vN4%3D) In the dialog that opens, enter the following information and click **Start recording**. | Field | Description | | --- | --- | | Scenario name | The name of your scenario. | | Window size | The dimensions of the browser window to be used during recording. | | Start with | URL (Page to start recording) / Shared Group (Shared Group used at the beginning of a scenario) | | Description | An optional field to describe your scenario. | Based on your application settings, a browser will open at the starting URL with the recorder toolbar, which is a controller for the recording session. For more details about the recorder toolbar, see [Recorder toolbar](/v1/docs/recorder-toolbar). Autify Nexus records steps as you navigate through your website, interact with it, for example, by clicking buttons or inputting text, or record actions via the recorder toolbar. While recording, it is possible to drag and drop the recorder bar to move it on the Scenario Detail screen. This allows you to flexibly specify the position where you want to insert a new step when adding it in the middle of a scenario. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/c040854c-2c75-49d0-98e1-43f462e8657e/Images/Documentation/Document Gif recordar bar.gif?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A17%3A37Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A17%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=15o7akvr9re%2B7i1yVsmSzQUt0O1EqHb7Mkx5F4p0vN4%3D) Perform the actions required for your test. Then, click **Done** or close the browser window to end the recording session. > [!NOTE] > Don’t forget to save! > > Any changes made to a scenario, including brand new recordings, are not saved automatically. Once you have finished recording or modifying your scenario, click **Save** in the top-right. ## Importing a scenario Scenarios can also be created from an existing Playwright code file or `.autifyscenario` file. See [Importing and exporting scenarios](/v1/docs/importing-and-exporting-scenarios) for more information.
